It's a favorite. Costco ice cream is close, but this homemade custard is the best sweet treat in the world. It's a tedious process and would probably be improved by getting the Kitchen-Aid specific bowl attachment, but right now we have the Kitchen-Aid countertop ice cream spinner thing that works.
🍜 Ingredients

- can sub half and half or cream

- The nicer the better
📑 Directions
- In large saucepan, whisk:
- Corn starch
- Milk
- Sugar
- Heat mixture to 175F, while whisking constantly
- In small bowl:
- Whisk 2 eggs
- Acclimate eggs by ladling hot mixture from large saucepan slowly and gently into eggs, so they don't curdle.
- Once eggs are properly acclimated to heat, pour eggs into large saucepan
- Heat large saucepan on low, continuing to whisk constantly.
- Mixture should reach at least 160F, coating the back of a spoon
- Remove from heat
- Immediately place in ice bath and stir for 2 minutes
- Stir in sweetened condensed milk and vanilla
- Put wax paper on surface of mixture, put in fridge overnight
- Using ice cream maker:
- Pour mixture into frozen cylinder, two-thirds full
- Fridge the rest of mixture
- Let mix spin until thickened (approx 30 minutes, depending)
- Freeze ice cream in tupperware for 2-4 hours minimum before serving
